Privacy Policy
The short version. Tiny Game Engine has no accounts and no ads. Your projects stay on your phone and are never uploaded. The app goes online to download free 3D models from the model library and, unless you switch it off, to send anonymous usage statistics (which features get used), never your projects, your name or anything you type.
What stays on your device
- Your projects: scenes, objects, event sheets, scripts, and the images, models and sounds you add. They are saved in the app's own storage on your phone and are not uploaded.
- Small settings: the panel layout, which project was open last, how far you got in the tutorials, and your usage-statistics choice.
- Your APK signing key, if you export games as APKs. It is created on your phone and kept there. You can back it up to a file you choose, protected with a password.
Uninstalling the app deletes all of this. Use “Backup project” first if you want to keep a copy.
When the app uses the internet
- The model library. When you open it, the app downloads the list
of free models and the models you pick from
hidencod.github.io(GitHub Pages). Like any website, GitHub receives the usual technical details of a web request, such as your IP address. Nothing about you or your projects is sent. See GitHub's privacy statement. - Usage statistics, if they are on (see below).
- Links you tap, such as the Kenney website, open in your browser.
Everything else, including making games, playing them and exporting them, works offline.
Usage statistics
To learn which parts of the app people use and where they get stuck, the app can send anonymous usage statistics to GameAnalytics (GameAnalytics ApS, Denmark), who process them on our behalf. What is recorded: which templates and tutorials are started, how far tutorials get, and when games are played and exported, as counts. GameAnalytics also records the usual technical details that come with any web request: a randomly generated identifier for your device, the device model and Android version, the app version, and the country your connection appears to come from.
Never sent: your projects, their names, object names, scripts, events, or anything you type. Statistics are not tied to your name or email address, and are not used for advertising.
Your choice. In Europe the app asks first and sends nothing unless you say yes. Everywhere else statistics are on by default. Wherever you are, you can switch them off at any time: tap ? on the home screen, then Usage statistics. When they are off, the analytics code is not even loaded.
Feedback and problem reports
“Send feedback” and “Report a problem” open your own email app with a message addressed to us. Nothing is sent until you press send there, and you can read and change all of it first. A problem report adds the app version, your phone model and Android version, the screen size, and recent error messages from the editor, so we can find the bug. We use what you send only to reply and to improve the app, and we delete it on request.
Files you import and export
Importing images, models, sounds or .tge projects, and exporting games or
backups, uses Android's file picker and share sheet. The app only sees the files you
choose, and it saves exports where you tell it to.
Games you make
Games you export (HTML or APK) contain only what you put in them. If you publish a game, you are responsible for its privacy policy. Tiny Game Engine adds no tracking, ads or analytics to exported games.
What is never collected
- No accounts, names, email addresses or passwords (unless you email us)
- No advertising or advertising identifiers
- No usage statistics once you switch them off, or, in Europe, before you agree
- No precise location (GameAnalytics sees only the country your connection comes from), no contacts, camera, microphone or photos beyond the files you pick
- No selling of data, and no sharing with anyone except GameAnalytics for the statistics above
The app asks Android for two permissions: Internet (for the model library) and Vibrate (so games you make can rumble the phone).
Children
Tiny Game Engine is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes
If the app ever starts collecting something new, this page will say so before the update that does it, and the date above will change.
